It’s that time of year again ~ Willert Wanderlust 2019! The Contractor, Jack Jack and I are on our yearly Summer Trip! We took off from our house on July 15 and headed to St. Petersburg to visit friends and family. From there we headed to Orlando to visit another one of our best friends.
After visiting all of our friends and family, we headed to Atlanta and went to the Georgia Aquarium. Every year we say we are going to go, but something always happens and we don’t end up going… so this year was the year that the plans FINALLY worked out and we got to go! AND boy was it worth the wait!
The whale shark was incredible and I loved all of the aquatic life, but my favorite were the beluga whales!
After leaving the Georgia Aquarium, we drove to Kentucky, where we spent the evening. The next morning, the Contractor and I went for our first mountain bike ride of the trip, and my FIRST mountain bike ride, well, EVER… and we decided to make the inaugural ride at Waverly Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
We got on the trail and it was quickly evident that the trail was NOT for beginners, such as my self. About twenty falls later, and I think I earned my stripes. I had fallen in the mud, hit two trees, went over the handle bars twice, had scraps and bruises, could barely walk, but by sheer determination, duct tape and a prayer, I got my sorry a$$ and bike, back to the car. I woke up the next morning feeling like I had been hit by a semi truck, but I had done it! I conquered a fear that I had and ridden my mountain bike on an actual mountain bike trail! Now, I guess I had no excuse for the rest of the trip… eeeck!!
I licked my wounds while we drove the rest of the way to Chicago, our final destination for this part of the trip.
That’s it for now
