California Highway 1

While in California, the Contractor and I went on a discovery of a lifetime… we went on the Discovery Route: California Highway 1.  We discovered areas where tourists don’t usually venture – uncrowded beaches, roads, hiking trails, wildlife viewing & mountain vistas.  It was breathtaking to say the least.  We started off in San Francisco, and the Contractor surprised me by renting a convertible Mercedes Benz so we could see all of the sights off of Highway 1.

We started down Highway 1 and took a few detours, we stopped to see the sunset in Santa Cruz.  Oh, am I happy that we stopped!  We got to see otters swimming home for the evening, plus a breathtaking sunset.

Then we stopped and stayed the night in Monterey.  I am terrified of heights, but there was a point at the end of one of the hikes that I was determined to get to the end of.  The view was AMAZING!  Heres the video and photos for your viewing pleasure:

The next day we took on the 17-Mile Drive around Pebble Beach.  As you may know, the Pebble Beach Golf Course is ranked as the Number One public golf course in America.  It has nine of its holes hugging the Pacific Ocean and has hosted many championship golf tours.  All I can say is WOW.  It was AMAZING!  I will let the pictures and videos do the talking.

The last place I will talk about is Big Sur.  The breathtaking beauty is like no other.  Rocky cliffs, vistas, hidden beaches – BIG bucket list check off!  This place was awe-inspiring.  It was like no place I have ever been to before.

Well, it was one heck of a trip, and I would HIGHLY recommend going if you ever get the chance!  SO many check marks off of my bucket list!!  The Contractor totally surprised me and took me on a whirlwind of a two day trip!  I am WAY out of spoons now, but it is WAY worth it!!  What is a trip that you would recommend going on?  Any places that you would put on a must go list?

That’s it for now
