Savings Catcher

Like many people I traverse the MANY aisles of the wonderful neighborhood WalMart on a WAY too regular basis.  I also spend WAY too much money, like many of my friends tell me, its the $100 rule – you can’t leave WalMart without spending at least $100+ – and trust me, I definitely obey the rule.

In the past year, I learned about the WalMart Savings Catcher.  This handy app on my phone has saved me $144.76 in the past year.  I’ll let WalMart explain exactly how this works:

  1. Scan the receipt barcode with your Walmart app.
  2. We check top competitors in your area for advertised deals on eligible items.
  3. If we find a lower price, you’ll get the difference.

WalMart performs the magic, and you get the savings.  It is as simple as those simple three steps!

I also learned about WalMart Pay, which allows you to use the money that you save with the savings catcher to pay for your purchases.  You just download the WalMart app, which you should already have downloaded for the Savings Catcher, then when you go to pay, you tell the cashier that you want to pay with WalMart Pay.  At this point, a bar code will appear on the credit card machine.  You scan the bar code with your phone and  voila, the payment will have transpired!  Oh, and by the way, this is by no means sponsored or endorsed by WalMart, I wish I were that lucky…

Do you have any handy tips/tricks for any places you go to on a regular basis for money savings?

That’s it for now
